The Upper Imeretian Plateau is a region where Eastern and Western Georgian cultures were interconnected during antiquity. This cultural interaction is clearly reflected in the artifacts discovered at the Jieti and Itkhvisi settlements, as well as the Modinakhe cemetery. The region was occupied by bearers of the Colchian culture at the onset of the 1st millennium BC, as shown by the marked increase in the number of sites. In addition to archaeologically excavated sites in this area, several metal artifacts have been discovered by chance, all displaying characteristic features of the Colchian culture. |
