Traditional wooden architecture and the terms connected with it in Imerkhevian speech

In speech of Georgian population living in Imerkhevi there are a lot of terms connected with tradicional wooden architecture that comes from ancient Georgian language, like: zgve, baga, avazani and etc. Also, we found the terms which are used in other Georgian dialects, especially in Mountainous Acharian, in Javakhian, in Khevsurian dialects.

Mourning practices of Kists from the Pankisi gorge

Very interesting rules and traditions of mourning were established in the Kists’ life. The variety of mourning texts and rituals of the Kists of Pankisi were mainly the result of syncretism of Christian and Muslim religious views, migration processes and a strong influence of the Georgian culture.

The head of Khevi (Elder)

The person, distinguished with his characters could become the head of village and at this time the middleman between people and The Virgin. He was distinguished by “icon”. Haoma

This article is about Haoma as an intoxicating religious beverage and its use by the followers and worshipers of Zarathustra and its predecessors. The sacred beverage of Haoma has been in the focus of several researchers’ interest due to its intoxicating effects and it has been very difficult to establish the ingredients in the beverage. Before I turn to the beverage itself and its rituals I will give a short introduction to the early Persian religious believes and its cult since Zarathustra own teaching has its roots from those believes.
