The first temple in Zedazeni monastery was built after the death of it’s founder, Saint John Zedazneli, who himself had chosen ascetic activities. Construction of the church must be taken place in the 60-70 years of VI century.

Pomegranate as a symbol of fertility was widely spread in the Mediterranean civilization. In our opinion on the one hand it must be appeared in Christianity from the influence of the Old Testament and on the other hand, from Hellenistic-roman world. |
