Iberia-Kartli shortly after its conversion into Christianity (337) established political and cultural relations with Byzantine – the nucleus of eastern Christian civilization. The data available about conversion of Kartli in the oldest Greek sources are fragmental and tendentious, since they deal with the church founded beyond the limits of the empire at the participation of Greek clergymen. This theme is considered in more details in Georgian sources, historical chronicles and ecclesiastical records.

The first temple in Zedazeni monastery was built after the death of it’s founder, Saint John Zedazneli, who himself had chosen ascetic activities. Construction of the church must be taken place in the 60-70 years of VI century.
In the VIII century by Clement, Katholikos of Georgia was erected the new basilica. As a result, the oldest church was included in the basilica as it’s Northern part.

XIX საუკუნის 70-იან წლებში აღმოსავლეთი კვლავ მსოფლიო ყურადღების ცენტრში მოექცა. ინგლისი ისევ ეწინააღმდეგებოდა რუსეთის მიერ ბოსფორისა და დარდანელის სრუტეების ხელში ჩაგდების ცდებს. ავსტრია-უნგრეთს რუსეთის ბალკანეთზე გაბატონება აშინებდა. გერმანია კი აღმოსავლეთის საკითხის გამწვავებას უწყობდა ხელს, ცენტრალურ ევროპაში თავისუფლად რომ ემოქმედა. 1875 წელს ბოსნიასა და ჰერცოგოვინაში ანტითურქულმა აჯანყებამ იფეთქა. მალე მან სლავი ხალხების ეროვნულ განმათავისუფლებელი ომის ხასიათი მიიღო. ეს რუსეთის წისქვილზე ასხავდა წყალს. რუსეთმაც არ დააყოვნა და 1877 წლის 24 აპრილს თურქეთს ომი გამოუცხადა.

The article represents high interest of Georgian press in 1914 to the participation of Turkey in the First World War due historically difficult relations between Georgia and Turkey.
Position of Turkey was the most important question for Georgia at the beginning of the First World War. Because of this imperative question, in spite of different political and genre directions, all magazines and newspapers of that period take into consideration this permanent interest of the Georgian people.
