Roman silver mirror was found in nekropolis #905 of Mtskheta. The mirror of spherical shaoe is casted and horizontal-Hendled types. The scene displayed on the surface of the mirror shows one of the episodes so widely spread in the Greko-Roman World, i.e. when Dionysus falls in love with sleeping Ariadne who was left on the island of Naxos be Theseus. The handle is treated in a form of man’s fingeres. The mirror of 15-16 sm in diameter. |

The article is dedicated to sculptural monuments of Early Christian period revealed in the territory of Abkhazia. A variety of architectural details with Christian symbols and themes expressed on them are presented in the mentioned region. 26 monuments of Early Christian period are known to be built in the mentioned time period. First of all should be mentioned the ancient Christian centre in the Black Sea eastern littoral - Bichvinta that is a complex of monuments of immense interest. Though the monuments of Early Christian period discovered in Sokhumi, Anakopia, Mramba, Tsebelda, Kulamba, Dranda, Gagra and so on are of no less importance. |
