Exact location of the Black Sea costal town Phasis of Antique period has not been identified till today in spite of attempts of many researchers. Old literary and historical sources have kept very poor information about this really one of the most interesting by archeological and historical point of view event of Georgia. Records of Antique period researchers (Aristotle, Arianus, Strabo, Plinius, Pomponius Mela, Ptolemy, etc.) about Phasis are general and exclusionary, which is a main problem for identification of its exact location. |
