XX საუკუნის 50-ანი წლების ბოლოს და 60-ანი წლების დასაწყისში სოფელი ჯიმითი მაშინდელი რუსეთის მეფისნაცვლისა საქართველოში და მისი მთავრობის ყურადღების ცენტრში მოექცა. თერთმეტმა ჯიმითელმა, ადგილ ველიასახოში მოულოდნელად ამოხოცა კახეთის რამდენიმე თავადი. მეფისნაცვლის ბრძანებით, ყველა ციმბირში გადაასახლეს. მათგან მხოლოდ ერთი დაბრუნებულა უკან. რას უნდა გამოეწვია ასეთი სიმკაცრე სოფლის მოსახლეობაში მაშინ, როცა საუკუნეების განმავლობაში სოფელს არც თავადი ჰყოლია და არც სახელმწიფო ბეგარა-გადასახადს იხდიდა. მოკლედ შევეხოთ ჯიმითის ისტორიულ წარსულს.

At the Convention on desertification adopted in 1994 by the UN the South Caucasus is named among the various regions around the world, which are under the desertification threat due to global warming and impact of human factors. Main reasons for acceleration of desertification process are considered modern global warming and negative human impact on landscapes.

Activities of Catholic missionaries has a century-old history in Georgia. It officially started in the first half of the 13th century and continued till the beginning of the 20th century. During this period the missionaries multilateral work played a significant part in Georgia’s political, economic, social, cultural and religious life.
